| THE VP EAST WATERFRONT COTTAGE |
The VP East cabin is located at the eastern end of our 12 acre property with 650
feet of water frontage on South Lake, a beautiful salt water lagoon adjacent to 3 miles of spectacular white sand dune and
ocean beach. Also located on the property is our residence (VP) and our other solar cabins (The Boathouse & VP West),
but all retain a very substantial margin of privacy (see aerial view below) and have separate access points to the waterfront.
The main room on the first floor of VP East is an open dining/living area equipped with dining table and chairs as
well as a medley of living room furnishings. Adjacent to the main room is a kitchen alcove equipped with
sink, gas stove, electric fridge, and cooking/dining utensils. Leading from the main room through a set of french doors there
is a screened porch equipped with deck chairs and a table.
The second floor contains 2 small bedrooms, one with
a queen size bed and the other with 2 single beds. There is also a small bathroom with tub and sink. Blankets are provided,
but linens and towels are not provided for monthly rentals. There is an enclosed outdoor shower attached to the side
of the cottage and in a nearby detached outbuilding there is composting type toilet facility.
Lighting is, of course,
provided by a solar electric system, which is 12 Volt DC. Being the common voltage used in automobiles and boats, 12VDC is
easily adaptable to running many portable devices such as CD/DVD Players, Laptop Computers, small DC TVs, etc.
There
is also a small inverter that inverts the 12 VDC current to standard 115 VAC current for powering small AC appliances and
equipment.
Some cell phones reportedly work from the VP East cottage, but there is presently no landline telephone
connection to VPE. Internet access is available at various nearby free WiFi hotspots and also at owners residence.
A canoe for exploring the lake and dune beach is moored close to the shallow shore near the waterfront side of the
cabin. A row boat is also available. The lake and canoe is accessed via a stairway off the elevated waterside deck and picnic
area, which is provided with a picnic table and a charcoal fired BBQ Grill.
VP East is suitable for 1-2 adults
plus 1-2 children, or a maximum of two couples.
The town of South Lake is at the eastern end of PEI just below
East Point. The property is about 2 miles from the general store in Bothwell and it is about a 15-20 minute drive to Souris
which has a complete range of facilities...supermarkets, banks, restaurants, etc.
